Habitat for Humanity
When Christena Panzone from Habitat for Humanity contacted me needing a lead for the "Woman Build" painting project I was honored and immediately said yes. I had never worked on a Habitat house but had wanted to for some time. She told me the Woman Build week was May 6-12 and she had a home in Woodbine that needed to be painted on the 12th. Lowes donated all the paint and tools needed for the day. No one expected us to complete the project in the one day but we had almost 20 of the greatest volunteers who really worked hard. We had the house completely painted including doors, trim, ceiling, and of course all the walls by 2:00pm. It was a special day, knowing there were 10,000 women across the country working on Habitat houses at the same time. Talk about sisterhood! It was a good time for all. Coastal Community College provided lunch and we even were treated to a beautiful cake which looked just like the house we were painting. So much talent in one day! Thank you, Christena, and all the volunteers!
